When did Hollywood decide that unhappy endings were okay? Was it Blair Witch, or was there something before that, that was widely accepted and also made money?
Drag Me To Hell made me wonder about this....but there are numerous other examples, all after Blair Witch. Except maybe for Rosemary's Baby. And the 70's remake of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.
I like unhappy endings, but Drag Me To Hell disappointed me a little, because I think there will be a sequel (Hell And Back?). And maybe that story should have ended right there at the end. |

| The day drags by, like a wounded animal |
[Jun. 6th, 2009|05:18 am] |
The day drags by like a wounded animal The approaching disease, 92 degrees The blood oin our veins and the brains in our head The approaching unease, 92 degrees Long ago in the headlines, they noticed it too But too late for the loved ones and nearly for you ..... Shaky lines on the horizon Snakey lines invade each person Watch the red line creeping upwards Watch the sanity line weaken The volcanic depths of Hades' ocean Bubble under, these crazed eruptions It wriggles and wrythes and bites within, Just below the sweating sun I wondered when this would happen again Now I watch the red line, reach that number again The blood in our veins and the brains in our head ..... Drink the water with jagged glass Eat the cactus with bleeding mouth Not 91 or 93, but 92 Fahrenheit degrees Shaky lines on the horizon Snakey lines invade each person Not 91 or 93, but 92 Fahrenheit degrees

[Apr. 22nd, 2009|04:50 am] |
We've all heard it.....who would you want to have dinner with, living or dead. Keith Haring was my answer for a long time, but now I would say Kurt Cobain. Yeah, I know, totally lame....but I'm drunk and I've been watching '1991, The Year Punk Broke', which I really really wish was available in DVD format. I have the VHS, but I bet there are tons of extra goodies available....
.....and Polly is one of my favorite Nirvana songs. |

I do not like the new formats of several websites.............namely YouTube and XTube.
I don't like the search results on YouTube, the way they give you like 3 results then stop there and give 'playlist' results, which I don't want to see. Whatever.
I love this performance by Ms. Harvey though...
...she is utterly fabulous. |

Okay, I can't remember if I've posted this before. But I still love it....
Remember all the goth LP's that would add a disclaimer to "please play as loud as possible"? Well, this is a great video to play as loud as possible.

[Apr. 10th, 2009|09:15 am] |
I found a pretty unreliable internet connection that I can get from my bedroom, so here's an update.
This is my favorite time of the week....well, every other week, since I work every other weekend. You see where this is going. I'm off work until Sunday night, and since last night was particularly harrowing, my time off is sweeter because of it.
Unfortunately I might have nightmares about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which I didn't know existed until a couple days ago. It's basically a landfill of plastic garbage in the Pacific Ocean. It's horrific, but fascintating to me, and I'm a little haunted and obsessed, but not in the way that I'm going to start crusading about it. It's more like a sick fascination. I want to see it. Does it stink? It would almost have to. Can you see it from an airplane? I want to know more.
I could go on, but instead I'll switch topics. Last Saturday I spent an entire afternoon perusing drag videos on YouTube. My favorite was Rentecca doing 'What's That Right There'. I'll post it here, but it's NOT SAFE FOR WORK. The funniest part is at the very end.
....that cheers me up every time, and I've needed it lately. Which is stupid, because I really have nothing bad going on right now. In fact, I'm really lucky compared to lots of other people. But, as usual, I tend to get stuck in my own little narrow mind-set and get depressed about things, etc, etc.
I'm still reading my friends' entries, but it's usually on a Blackberry, and that makes replies kind of tedious. I'm sure I've said that before. One of these days I will get internet here, but right now I think of it as a luxury that I can't afford. I can use the internet at school whenever I feel like it, but I don't really look at Livejournal at school, because I don't want everyone all up in my business.
I think that's all for now...........talk to you all later. |
